The North East Air Support Unit utilises a Eurocopter EC135T2 and its registration is G-NEAU. If you see the helicopter out and about you will notice the registration on the tail rotor. The aircraft was built in 2004 in Germany and modified for police roles by Eurocopter UK in Oxford.
The helicopter was delivered into service in April 2005 and is available to be deployed 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. On average the helicopter is in flight for up to 1,140 hours each year.
