CSI Northumbria

Crime Scene investigation has a central role in solving crimes.
Crime Scene Investigators (CSIs) are called in by police officers as soon as possible after a crime is reported.
Scene preservation is paramount and CSIs will document and recover all physical evidence present within a crime scene.
The CSI will recover all forensic evidence present within a crime scene. This evidence is packed, sealed, labeled and signed by the officer in order to maintain integrity, protect the chain of continuity and prevent contamination.
Forensic evidence can include - fingerprints, DNA, footprints, fluids and residues, paint, glass and fibres.
Once the evidence has been analysed the results are given to the officer in charge of the investigation.
