Northumbria Police aims to integrate equality and human rights into everything it does to meet the needs of the Force and its communities.
Under the Equality Act 2010, the Force has a duty to use equality information when deciding how it carries out its daily business.
The Force has an Equality Board which monitors and oversees equality in its services and employment.
It looks at issues, analyses performance and recommends ways of both improving the services the Force provides to the public and.the working environment of its staff..
The Equality Board receives regular monitoring reports and each year a summary is produced highlighting the progress made each year.
The Diversity and Equality Annual Monitoring Report 2011 shows the work the Force has carried out in complying with the Equality Act.
