Rick
PC Saunders - Puppy: Rick

January 2010
My puppy is called Rick and he is growing nicely but quickly.
At the moment, Rick loves to bite anything or anyone! He was housetrained very quickly and settled without fretting straight away. He also loves his food and has done from day one.
Rick was kept in the house until the middle of January as it was too cold for the kennel.
He is starting to show his mischievous side now by tormenting older dog Baz. He puts up with him well, but eventually has to warn him off.
Rick loves to play with a tug toy and ball and bunches of keys. He will speak on command for these items.
He enjoys walking but is still very clingy when taken out.

February 2010
This month Rick has continued to grow at an alarming rate. He is nearly as tall as Baz my other working dog.
He and my cat are now on better speaking terms which is a good thing to encourage as it makes for one less distraction when he eventually has to search in urban areas.
For three weeks this month, he has had the pleasure of the company of his sister, Vegas, while her handler was not well. This provided me with 'double trouble' as both pups egged each other on to bark and destroy my garden and its contents, including the hose, decking and the plants!
Both dogs had a tummy upset which required a visit to the vets but after a few days were fully recovered and back up to mischief.
Rick is enjoying playing with a new bite bar toy which he loves to tug on and is determined to get off me.
He is showing lots of promising signs for a future career as a police dog. He thinks we are playing, but in reality we are training to find and bark and fetch and not be afraid of unusual things.
