Jim Campbell

Assistant Chief Constable
Jim Campbell is Assistant Chief Constable and currently has responsibility for Crime.
Mr Campbell joined Northumbria Police in September 1983 which remains the only force in which he has served. His service profile has been predominantly operational, working mainly within the Sunderland and Newcastle areas.
In addition to the uniformed response policing role he has performed specialist public order duties and has criminal investigation background at all ranks up to and including Chief Inspector.
Mr Campbell was an Area Commander from 2001 until 2005. His initial command was at Sunderland West where he remained until March 2004, when he took charge of the new Sunderland command, formed through amalgamation of the former policing areas within the city.
In September 2005 he became head of ‘Corporate Development’, a Department which has lead responsibility for all aspects of strategic and business planning before leaving to complete the Strategic Command Course in October 2006.
He is married with two sons, enjoys family life, keeping fit, golf and sea angling.
