AIM OF POLICY: To adopt the ACPO Security Systems Policy issued April 2006

BENEFIT OF POLICY: To provide a rapid response to genuine alarm activations by reducing false calls and providing a commitment based upon the recent reliability of the system and the technology installed.

REASON FOR POLICY: To ensure staff and external providers of alarm facilities understand Northumbria Police policy


DESCRIPTION OF POLICY:

Northumbria Police acknowledges its positive duty to protect life under Article 2 of the Human Rights Act 1998.

Part of its response to that duty is the adoption of the ACPO Security Systems Policy issued April 2006, which outlines the standards, systems and service that will be delivered in respect of :

  • Intruder Alarms

  • Remotely-monitored detector activated CCTV systems

  • Personal attack alarms

  • Stolen vehicle tracking systems

The overall aim of the ACPO Security Systems policy is to provide a rapid response to genuine alarm activations by reducing false calls and providing a commitment based upon the recent reliability of the system and the technology installed.
