Wildlife Crime Officer (W.C.O.)

The Wildlife Crime Officer post is additional to a police officer’s normal role.

Wildlife Crime Officers attend a national course and receive specialist training in wildlife law and the investigation of wildlife offences.

Northumbria Police has seven Wildlife Crime Officers based within the six Area Commands.

They are: -

  • Gateshead: PC 1307 James Fitzpatrick

  • North Tyneside: PC 739 Mark Mennim

  • Newcastle: vacant

  • Northumberland - North and East: PC 3575 Mick Leybourne

  • Northumberland - West: PC 515 Colin Heath
