Advice for victims of crime
Victim and Witness Care Unit
Northumbria Police has launched a Victim and Witness Care Unit, which will keep victims up to date with the progress of their case from the incident to the choice of disposal, whether this is to charge, caution or carry out no further action etc. They will also provide advice regarding Victim Support and other agencies.
In line with the Victims Code of Practice the Victim and Witness Care Unit will ensure that all victims of crime are provided with information about local support services and contact details within 2 days of a crime being recorded. We will also provide monthly updates to victims of any progress made during the investigation until someone is charged for the crime or the crime cannot be investigated any further.
