Bends Dead Ahead
We’re lucky to have some amazing countryside in the Northumbria Police force area. In the summer months many motorcyclists enjoy a ride out on Northumberland’s country roads.
The vast majority of people have a safe and enjoyable day out but unfortunately, if a motorbike is involved in a crash, riders are particularly vulnerable to serious injuries.
That’s why Northumbria Police and partners use eye catching signs to remind motorcyclists to take extra care on bends and watch their speed. The signs also raise other road users’ awareness and naturally cause them to take care and watch out for bikes.
The signs are based on styles used elsewhere in the country and have proved to be successful, with 85% of respondents to a survey in Northumberland having seen the signs.
We also use hard hitting posters in villages popular with motorcyclists and solar signs on busy weekends to remind all road users to take care.
