Don’t let thieves steal your Christmas

Don’t let thieves steal your Christmas

Northumbria Police has begun a campaign aimed at helping you keep your property safe this festive season.

While Christmas is regarded as a time for giving, for thieves it is also seen as a time for taking.

‘Don’t let thieves steal your Christmas’ will be running until 6 January 2012 with lots of crime prevention tips available which are particularly relevant at this time of year.

Crimes such as burglary, theft, and robbery will be targeted with operations across the whole force. Crime prevention advice will also be available advising you on how to protect your property from opportunist thieves.

You can help Northumbria Police during the campaign by following these simple steps:

  • Don't leave your presents or shopping on show

  • Remember to lock all windows and doors before you leave home

  • Keep your mobile phones, cash and keys out of sight

  • If you go out at night, close your curtains and set light timers

  • When you go shopping, think about where you park

  • Keep your wallets and purses out of sight.
