We are sorry you were not completely satisfied with the service you received from Northumbria Police.We want you to tell us why you are unhappy and how we could improve things to stop this from happening again.
There are three kinds of complaint you can make:
- About a member of staff
- About a policy or procedure
- About the service you have been given by Northumbria Police
Making a complaint about a police officer or member of staff:
You can make a formal complaint if you:
Feel the police officer or member of police staff behaved inappropriately towards you.
Were distressed as a result of a friend or relative being badly treated by the police.
Are acting on behalf of anyone and have been given written permission to make a complaint on their behalf.

Making a complaint about a policy or procedure:
Complaints about Northumbria Police’s policies, procedures or operational decisions, should be made to Northumbria Policeusing the form below or to Northumbria Police Authority
Examples of these complaints could include where you think there are not enough police officers in your area, if the police should change the priority of how crimes are investigated or some other part of how the police works needs to change.

Making a complaint about a service we delivered:
If you are not making a complaint about a member of staff or policies, procedures and operational decisions, you can tell us about how we failed to deliver the service you expected.
Your disappointment could be because a police officer or member of police staff was late for or missed an appointment, they did not return your call or respond to an email, they failed to keep you up to date on developments in your case or there could be some other reason.
