If you can try to find someone to help you cross the road safely - either a police officer, a lollypop person, a teacher or a grown-up you trust.
If you have to cross a road on your own then follow these simple rules:
Stop:
Find the safest place to cross then stop on the pavement at the curb or the edge if there is no curb.
Look:
Have a good look around, make sure you can see if anything is coming and that drivers can see you.
Listen
Listen carefully, never cross while chatting, listening to your MP3 player or talking on your mobile phone.
Remember: When it is safe to cross, walk straight across the road- always looking and listening while you cross.
