What are the fitness requirements to be a police officer?
Dated: 01 May 2012
You will be asked to complete a bleep test as part of the fitness criteria. The test involves running continuously between two points that are 15 metres apart against timed intervals. You must cross the marked line at either end before the bleep sounds.
As the test continues the interval between each successive bleep gradually reduces forcing you to increase your speed to ensure that you reach the required point in the timescale permitted. You will be required to reach level 5:4.
Police officers are expected to repeat the fitness test annually once in post as part of their Officer Safety Training.
