Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')
Thank you for your email dated 8th July 2011 in which you made a request for access to certain information which may be held by Northumbria Police.
As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.
You asked:
How many catering / hospitality staff do you employ?
Do you employ your own cleaning / facilities staff, or do you contract it out? (By facilities staff I mean cleaners, maintenance, porters etc.)
How many cleaning / facilities staff do you employ or who do you contract it out to?
When is that contract up for renewal?
What recruitment agencies do you use for catering / facilities / cleaning staff?
What was your spend with each of those agencies in the last 12 months?
What is your budget / anticipated spend for the next 12 months?
What job titles have you used agency staff for in the past 12 months?
What hourly rates are you charged for each of these categories of staff?
Are bookings for agency staff made by a central department or individual departments / managers?
If bookings are made centrally, please can you confirm the telephone number, email address and postal address of the person responsible?
What was your total spend on agency staff in the past 12 months?
In response:
We have now had the opportunity to fully consider your request and I provide a response for your attention.
Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with the Procurement Section of Northumbria Police. I can confirm that the information you have requested is held in part by Northumbria Police.
I have today decided to disclose the located information to you as follows.
None.
Cleaning is contracted out . There are a small number of driver/maintenance staff employed by the force.
Cleaning is provided by Gateshead Council, the Force's Strategic Partner. The Force employs 48 of its own staff. These consist of maintenance operatives, labourers , & gardeners across the force area.
This is an ongoing arrangement with the Force's Strategic partner Gateshead Council.
