Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')
Thank you for your email dated 19 July 2010 in which you made a request for access to certain information which may be held by Northumbria Police.
As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.
Please could you provide me with the figures for the number of people arrested/cautioned OR convicted as a result of acts of animal cruelty in your policing district in the last 5 years, broken down yearly, by area command?
We have now had the opportunity to fully consider your request and I provide a response for your attention.
The figures below related to the number of people arrested for an offence of cruelty to an animal where the outcome was either 'charged', 'simple caution' or 'summons' for the last 5 financial years.
