Date of request: 03/11/2011

Date of response: 10/11/2011

Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')

Thank you for your email dated 3rd November 2011 in which you made a request for access to certain information which may be held by Northumbria Police.

As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.

You asked:

I would like to request the following information which I believe the police may hold relating to Sunderland Area Command  in the past two calendar years.

  1. How many alcohol test purchases have been carried out using under-18 volunteers?

  2. How many times have staff/DPSs at licensed premises failed the test purchases?

  3. How many fines have been issued as a result of failed test purchases?

If possible under the time constraints, I would like to request the following additional information relating to the same area and time period:

  4. Please provide a full list of premises which have failed test purchases.

  5. 5. How much has been issued in fines in total?

In response:

We have now had the opportunity to fully consider your request and I provide a response for your attention.

Following receipt of your request, enquiries were conducted with Sunderland Area Command.  I can confirm that the information you have requested is not held by Northumbria Police.
The use of test purchases and operations relating to licensed premises are controlled and run by Trading Standards.
You would therefore need to redirect your query to Sunderland City Council

The information we have supplied to you is likely to contain intellectual property rights of Northumbria Police.  Your use of the information must be strictly in accordance with the Copyright Designs and Patents Act 1988 (as amended) or such other applicable legislation.  In particular, you must not re-use this information for any commercial purpose.
