Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')

Thank you for your email dated 3 November 2010 in which you made a request for access to certain information which may be held by Northumbria Police.

As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.

You asked:

My request is regarding all police officers and CSOs who have been arrested over the last TWO years (from October 2008 to October 2010)

For that period, can you please specify:

- The number of officers arrested and their rank in each case
- The number of CSOs arrested
- The suspected crime(s) in each case
- The date in each case (a month-by-month breakdown would suffice)
- The outcome in each case - whether or not the officer was charged (I appreciate some cases may be ongoing)
- What internal action was taken in each case? (eg, suspension, disciplinary hearing, warning, dismissal etc

In response:

We have now had the opportunity to fully consider your request and I provide a response for your attention.

The following information has been based upon information held in spreadsheets maintained by Professional Standards Department.  The information held relates to arrests of officers and staff which are attached to conduct and misconduct cases based on the case recorded date from 2005 – YTD 2010.  The information below relates to Police officers and CSO’s only for the period 01/10/2008 – 31/10/2010, Special Constables and Other Police Staff have not been included.  Offences which have resulted in a summons have not been included.  Where the discipline case against an officer is ongoing, these cases have not been included in the table below.
