Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')(FOIA)
Thank you for your email dated 30 August 2011 in which you made a request for access to certain information which may be held by Northumbria Police.
As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.
I wish to make an application under the Freedom of Information Act regarding the payment of bonuses to chief officers. My questions are as follows:
How much was paid in bonuses to your chief officers (i.e. chief, deputy and assistants) in the financial year 2010/2011 ? Can you please make it clear as to whether these bonuses related to the year 2010/2011 or were delayed payments for previous years ?
Are your chief officers due to receive any bonus payments in 2011/2012 ? If so, how much and, again, can you please make it clear as to whether these are delayed payments for previous years ?
We have now had the opportunity to fully consider your request and I provide a response for your attention.
Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with the Finance Department of Northumbria Police. I can confirm that the information you have requested is held, in part, by Northumbria Police.
I have decided to disclose the located information to you as follows.
Details of bonus values paid to Senior Officers in the financial year 2010/11 are published within the Northumbria Police Authority Statement of Accounts 2010/2011 (unaudited), normally available from the Police Authority Website. In order to aid and assist you I have attached a copy below.
Bonus payment are made in arrears, details of which year they relate to are identified within the Statement of Accounts.
No information held. As of the date of your request no bonus payments have been made to Chief Officers during 2011/2012 and Payroll have not been notified to date to make any such payments.
