We are appealing for information after a report of a sexual assault in a Newcastle bar.

At around 1.40am in the early hours of Sunday morning a 21-year-old woman told police she was talking to a man on the stairs in Tup Tup nightclub when he put his hand up her dress without her consent.

A 29-year-old man was ejected from the club by security and was later arrested by officers who attended the scene. He has since been released under investigation.

Enquiries into the incident are ongoing and we are now appealing for anyone who saw the incident to get in touch.

The suspect is described as black, six foot tall, bald, of muscular build and wearing a white shirt.

Anyone who saw what happened, or has information that may help police, should contact officers on 101, or email the OIC on 6@northumbria.pnn.police.uk, quoting log 118 12/11/17.
