Robbery on Metro, South Tyneside

Police have made charges following five arrests in connection with a robbery on the Metro system in South Tyneside.
The incident happened at 7.30pm, on Wednesday, May 27, on a train travelling from Newcastle bound for South Shields.
Freddie Newman, 18, of Braunespath Estate, New Brancepeth, Durham has been charged with violent disorder.
Peter Pearce, 20, of no fixed abode, has been charged with handling stolen goods.
A 16-year-old boy and 17-year-old girl have both been charged with robbery and violent disorder.
All four will appear at South Tyneside Magistrates' Court today, Friday, May 29.
An 18-year-old woman also arrested in connection with the incident has been released with no further action.
Two youths were taken to South Tyneside Hospital – a 15-year-old who suffered a broken nose and a 16-year-old who was suffering from soft tissue damage - following the incident. The injuries were not life threatening and both have since been discharged.
