Appeal for witnesses after crash on A1

At 12.10pm on Saturday 17 October police received a report of a collision between a car and a lorry on the A1, near to the junction of Rayheugh farm, South of Belford, Northumberland.
Officers and paramedics attended the scene and found that a Toyota Yaris had collided with a HGV lorry.
The road was closed at 12.20pm and diversions were put in place.
The RAF helicopter attended and transported the 26-year-old driver of the Yaris to Wansbeck District hospital for treatment to what are believed to be serious injuries.
His current condition is described as critical but stable.
The road was reopened in both directions at 3.10pm.
