Appeal to trace man in relation to Jarrow armed robbery

The public are being asked for their help to trace a man police want to speak to in connection with an armed robbery in Jarrow, South Tyneside.

Extensive enquiries have been carried out to trace Anthony John Taylor, 38, of no fixed abode, who may be residing in the London area.

Police want to speak to him in relation to the incident which happened at 5pm, on March 1, 2007, at Grainger Games, Grange Road, Jarrow.

A man entered the store brandishing what is believed to be a shot gun concealed in a plastic bag. He threatened staff before making off with a small quantity of cash.

Staff were shaken but not injured as a result of the incident.

Detective Constable Chris Sample, from South Tyneside Area Command, said: "We would appeal for anyone who recognises Taylor or knows of his whereabouts to contact us.

"He may have information that would greatly assist us with our enquiries."
