Disability forum get police advice
Dated: 25 Nov 2009
Police provided personal safety and crime prevention advice to members of the North Tyneside Disability Forum recently.
North Tyneside Crime Prevention Advisor Kevin Floyd visited the forum and spoke to members about how to keep themselves safe when going out and about and how to reduce the likelihood of them becoming a victim of crime.
Kevin Floyd said: "North Tyneside is a safe area to live and visit and crime continues to fall across the borough, but it is always sensible to think about how you can take sensible crime prevention measures and reduce the fear of crime.
"When personal safety is taken seriously and good advice shared and learned from then it makes for safer and healthy communities."
Dave Ellison, Forum Development worker said: "We asked Kevin to explain how our members' quality of life and general well-being could be enhanced by making better use of available services, and heeding relevant safety messages. Our group who are very lively enjoyed Kevin's talk and really benefitted from his help and expertise.
"The personal attack alarms and other protection devices will help to reduce the fear of crime and keep our members safe.
"I would recommend any community group to contact Kevin and see if he is available to give a talk and provide crime prevention and personal safety advice"
