Dated: 11 Feb 2010
Police were alerted to a theft of metal railings in Whitley Road and Marden Crescent in Whitley Bay by an off-duty police officer, at 5.23pm on Tuesday, February 9.
Police attended and found the six foot long lengths of metal railings had just been taken down by council staff. Descriptions of the vehicle and occupants were circulated to officers.
At shortly after 6pm a vehicle was stopped by officers in Cramlington. A man and woman were arrested on suspicion of theft and suspected stolen property was recovered.
