News Release
North residents' turn to get online
Dated: 22 Feb 2010
Residents living in the North of Newcastle are being urged to get online to have their say on crime from the comfort of their own home as Northumbria Police's virtual meetings continue across Newcastle.
Gosforth and Great Park Neighbourhood Inspector Jan Harrison will log on to the meeting to speak directly to local residents about crime and disorder in their community.
The two-hour web chat will takes place on Tuesday night (February 23), between 7pm and 9pm.
The meetings give residents the chance to raise any concerns they may have about crime in their neighbourhood, and ask questions.
The virtual meetings have just been launched in Newcastle and have so far taken place for residents in the Benwell and Elswick, Fenham and Scotswood and Blakelaw, Kenton and Fawdon sectors.
Insp Harrison said: "The virtual meetings have so far been successful and we're hoping that continues in Gosforth and Great Park. We originally piloted the very first virtual meeting for the force and it went well so we're confident people will log on.
"These meetings are a new way for us to communicate with people in their own homes and mean they can get information about crime and disorder right away.
"It also means they can log on a leave a question or comment and come back a little later to see the response, meaning they don't have to spend the full two hours in a meeting.
"We recognise people lead busy lives and this is a way for people to find out what they need from their local officers without having to leave their home."

Gosforth and Great Park – Tuesday February 23 – 7pm to 9pm
Outer West (including Lemington, Throckley, Denton and Westerhope) – Tuesday March 2 – 7pm to 9pm
