Sculpture damaged by fire

Police are appealing for witnesses after a wooden sculpture was damaged by fire in Newcastle.

It happened between 5.30pm on Wednesday June 30 and 10am on Thursday July 1, when a wooden sculpture at Scotswood Natural Community Garden was damaged by fire.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to this to come forward. PC Lee Scott, who is investigating, said: "The sculpture was damaged by a fire and I'm investigating how this fire was started.

"I'd appeal for any witnesses who saw anything suspicious in the community garden overnight on Wednesday night into Thursday morning, or who has information about the fire, to get in tough with police."
