Appeal after robbery and attempted robbery

Police are appealing for information after a robbery and an attempted robbery in Gateshead.
Between 1.20pm and 1.25pm on Tuesday, April 5, a 39-year-old woman on Coatsworth Road was approached by a man from behind who attempted to grab her mobile phone. He then ran off empty handed towards Bensham Road.
The same man then approached a 19-year-old woman on Bensham Road and grabbed her earphones. Following a struggle he made off, with several of her belongings, towards the town centre past the Windmills Park Nursing Home.
The offender is described as white, between 20 to 25-years-old with a thin face, 5 feet 8 inches tall and of a medium build with short dark hair. He was wearing a tracksuit top with white stripes down the sleeves and washed-out jeans.
Both women were shaken, but uninjured.
