Man injured in assault

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man suffered a broken jaw in an assault in Newcastle.
It happened around 1.25am on Saturday, May 7 when the 18-year-old victim was walking along Bavington Drive in Slatyford when he was approached by two men.
He was asked if he had a cigarette before then being punched twice in the face, causing a break to his lower jaw. The two men then ran off in the direction of Silver Lonnen.
The two offenders are described as white, aged in their 20s, around 6ft tall. One of them was wearing a black jacket and the other a white vest.
DC Giles Birch, West Road CID, said: "This was an unprovoked attack which left the victim needing hospital treatment and we're carrying out enquiries to trace those responsible. Any witnesses or anyone with information about who is responsible is asked to get in touch with police."
