Man charged with assault

A man has been charged after an assault in Newcastle.

It happened at 1.20am on Sunday, August 21, when the 24-year-old victim was outside The Dog pub at Westmoreland Road in the city centre. The victim was bitten on his face, requiring stitches to a wound on his upper lip.

A 32-year-old man was arrested at the scene and charged with wounding with intent to commit grievous bodily harm. He is currently going through the court process.
