44-year-old woman suffers head injuries

Police are appealing for information after a 44 year old woman suffered head injuries.

At 1:02am this morning police received a report from the ambulance service about a disturbance in Waskerley Road in Barmston, Washington.

Officers attended and arrested a 45-year-old woman on suspicion of assault.

A 44-year-old woman was taken to hospital with head injuries where she is in a critical condition.

Enquiries into the incident are ongoing. 

Detective Inspector Lisa Theaker, said: "We believe the two women involved in this incident are known to each other and are carrying out enquiries to establish what has happened. I'd urge anyone who has any information to contact police."

Acting Neighbourhood Inspector Alan Pitchford, from Washington Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: "The neighbourhood team will be carrying out extra patrols in the area to reassure the community and answer any concerns people may have. In addition, if anyone does have any concerns they can contact the neighbourhood team on 101."
