Man arrested for assault

Police investigating an assault in Newcastle city centre, in which a man suffered stab wounds, have renewed their appeal for witnesses.
Police were called to Saint Andrews Street, near Stowell Street, at 1.52am on Wednesday, February 1, following reports of a man with injuries.
Officers attended and the 23-year-old local man who had suffered stab wounds was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary for treatment. His condition is currently stable.
Following enquiries in the area and a 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent to commit grievous bodily harm and has been bailed pending further enquiries.
DI John Gardner said: "We're continuing to appeal for anyone who was in the area at the time of the assault, who witnessed it or saw anything suspicious in the area to get in touch with us as soon as possible.
"A man has been arrested and bailed in relation to the incident and enquiries are ongoing to establish exactly what has happened."
