Two arrested after Post Office robbery

Police have arrested two men after a Post Office robbery in Gateshead.
At 3:50pm on Thursday, February 2, police received a report of a robbery taking place at Chopwell Post Office.
Officers attended the scene and arrested two men, aged 40 and 31, in connection with the incident and recovered the small amount of money taken.
The suspects, both from the Gateshead area, were not armed and no one was injured during the incident.
Neighbourhood officers are completing increased patrols in the Chopwell area to offer reassurance to local people.
Officers continue to appeal for help from the public and are asking that anyone who was in the area at the time of the offence and who saw anything suspicious to contact police on the 101 ext 69191 or the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
