Appeal after city centre assault

Police are appealing for witnesses after an allegation of an assault in Newcastle.

It happened at about 1.30am on Sunday, January 29, when the victim, a 19-year-old man was involved in a dispute with a group of other men at Grainger Street in the city centre.

The men then assaulted him, knocking him to the floor before kicking and punching him. The victim suffered a broken jaw and received hospital treatment.

The incident was reported to police on Thursday, February 2.
