Crime prevention success in Ashington

Dated: 07 Feb 2012

Over 50 residents attended a crime prevention event held in Ashington.

On Saturday, February 4, officers from the Neighbourhood Policing Team were at the Community Centre in North Seaton running a safety event for local residents.

On the day officers security marked a number of mobile phones, laptops and games consoles that members of the public brought to the event and engraved 13 bikes and scooters.

A number of residents took the opportunity to speak to officers about crime prevention and to sign up to the local Neighbourhood Watch Scheme.

Ashington CSO Anastasia Drozdowicz said: "The event went down really well with the local community. People were keen to speak to us and ask questions about home security. Lots of people took the opportunity to have their valuables security marked and to sign up to the Neighbourhood Watch scheme and the whole event was a real success."
