Drugs recovered in raid
Dated: 06 Feb 2012
Police have recovered drugs after a raid in Newcastle.
On Wednesday, February 1, police executed a search warrant at a flat at Lort House in Shieldfield where around 40 cannabis plants at a variety of stages of growth were seized.
One of the bedrooms in the flat had been used to cultivate the plants, with associated heating and lighting equipment also recovered.
A 46-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of producing cannabis and has been bailed pending further enquiries.
Neighbourhood Inspector Louise Cass-Williams said: "This was a successful outcome and ensures that this quantity of cannabis will not reach the streets of Newcastle.
"I hope this demonstrates that we will always act on the information we receive and take appropriate action. I'd urge people with information about crime and disorder in their neighbourhood to get in touch with their local officers."
Police can be contacted on 101 ext 69191, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
