Two car break-ins

Dated: 07 Feb 2012

Police are appealing for witnesses after two car break-ins in Gateshead.

Between 11pm on Sunday, February 5 and 8.30am on Monday, February 6 someone stole the spare wheel from a white Ford Transit van parked on Bradbury Close in Wardley.

Then at 1.16pm on Monday, a blue Ford Focus was broken into outside the Felling Health Centre on Stephenson Terrace and a Navman sat nav and cigarettes were stolen from the car's dashboard.

Acting Neighbourhood Inspector Christopher Darling said: "I'd urge any witnesses or anyone who saw suspicious activity in these areas to contact us as soon as possible.

"I'd also like to remind motorists to make sure they secure their vehicles and leave nothing on display. Valuable items should be taken with them or stored away out of sight in the boot."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Northumbria Police on 101 ext 69191, or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
