Man robbed of mobile phone and cash

Police are appealing for witnesses after a  man was robbed in Sunderland.

It happened around 6pm yesterday evening in the pathway behind Franks Factory in Roker Avenue, in Sunderland. The man was approached by four or five men, two of the men assaulted him and stole a mobile phone and cash from him. The victim suffered facial injuries and received treatment at hospital.

Neighbourhood Inspector Tony Carty, who covers the area, said: "I'd urge anyone who was in the area and saw anything or saw a group of men in Roker Avenue to contact police as they may be able to help us with our enquiries."
