Serious injury collision

Police are appealing for witnesses following a collision at 10.10pm on Wednesday, February 8 on the A189 Killingworth Road, South Gosforth, in Newcastle.

A Skoda Superb car was driving northbound along the road as it approached the underneath of the Metro bridge at South Gosforth near the Victory Pub, a pedestrian a 44-year-old man, who was crossing the road was struck by the car and suffered serious injuries. Emergency services were called and the injured man was taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital where his condition is described as critical.

The road was close for three and a half hours to allow for the scene to be investigated.
