Attempted street robbery

Police are appealing for witnesses after an attempted robbery in Sunderland.

It happened at 9.25pm last night, Thursday, February 9, outside Asda in Leechmere Road. A 29-year-old man was approached by three men who assaulted him and tried to steal his mobile phone. The 29-year-old suffered minor facial injuries. The three men made off empty handed.

Officers are keen to hear from anyone who was in Leechmere Road last night and may have seen anything or may have any information about those involved.
