Security reminder after bike theft
Dated: 10 Feb 2012
Police are reminding cyclists to keep their bikes secure after a theft in the west end of Newcastle.
At 9.17am on Tuesday, February 7, police received a report that a bike outside Lloyds Pharmacy at Westgate Road had been stolen. It had been left insecure.
Neighbourhood Inspector Leigh McManus said: "It appears this was an opportunist theft and enquiries are ongoing into it. I'd like to remind people to ensure their bikes are securely locked, preferably with a D-lock, when leaving their bike, even if it's only for a few seconds."
Any witnesses are asked to contact police on 101 ext 69191, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
