CCTV released after Hexham hotel arson

Detectives are appealing for information following an arson at a hotel in Hexham.

At 3:40am on Thursday, February 2, police received a report of a fire inside the Royal Hotel building in Priestpopple.

The Fire service attended and extinguished the fire, no one was injured. There were no guests in the hotel at the time.

Enquiries were carried out into the fire and officers believe the fire was started maliciously.

CCTV in the area around the time of the offence shows a taxi picking someone up near to the hotel.

Detectives are appealing for the taxi driver, or the passenger, to contact them as soon as possible as they might have information that could help them with their enquiries.
