Man arrested after disturbance and earlier car robbery

Police have arrested a 19-year-old man following a disturbance and an earlier car robbery in Sunderland.
Just before 4pm on Saturday, February 11, police were informed of a disturbance in a car park on Leechmere Way, Ryhope.
Officers attended and found two men, aged 19 and 23, with slash type wounds to their hands. They were taken to Sunderland General Hospital to be treated for their injuries and later released to recover at home.
Following enquiries, police have arrested a 19-year-old man in connection with the incident and also in connection to a car robbery in Hendon Valley Road, Hendon that happened on Friday, February 10.
Uniformed officers are on patrol in the Ryhope area to provide reassurance and answer any concerns local people may have.
Police enquiries are continuing and anyone with information of the car robbery on Friday or the disturbance on Saturday is asked to contact police on 101 ext 69191 or the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
