Appeal after car stolen

Dated: 13 Feb 2012

Police are investigating after a car was stolen in Newcastle.

It happened at 7.08pm on Sunday, February 12, when a 25-year-old delivery driver was at Hollywood Crescent in Gosforth.

The driver had left the car unlocked with the engine running for a few moments, when two offenders got in the car - a grey Vauxhall Vectra - and drove off. The car is still outstanding.

One of the men is described as white, aged about 22, about 5ft 6ins tall of slim build, wearing a dark jacket with the hood up, while the other is said to be white, about 5ft 11ins tall of slim build, wearing a black jacket with the hood up.

Neighbourhood Inspector Julie Rana said: "We're making enquiries to trace the people responsible for this theft and would urge anyone with information to get in touch with us.

"I'd also like to remind people to make sure they always switch off the engine and lock their vehicle when leaving it, even if just for a few moments. They should also remove anything of any value from the car if possible when leaving it unattended."

Any witnesses are asked to contact police on 101 ext 69191, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
