Log on for virtual meeting
Dated: 13 Feb 2012
Residents in Newcastle are being urged to get online for virtual meetings.
Neighbourhood Policing Teams from across the city are hosting online meetings over the coming weeks where people can find out about policing in their area.
Residents can pop on at any time during the web chat to leave a comment, ask questions and raise issues about crime and disorder in their neighbourhood, getting almost instant answers to their queries from their local Neighbourhood Inspector.
The next meeting takes place on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 - between 1.30pm and 3pm - for those living in the Newcastle North area. Inspector Julie Rana will be online to speak to local residents about policing in their area.
Newcastle North covers the Throckley, Newburn, Lemington, Westerhope and Newbiggin Hall areas, Gosforth and Great Park and Blakelaw, Kenton and Fawdon.
The meetings are a chance for local people to find out about crime and disorder and get to know their local neighbourhood team from the comfort of their own home.
Insp Rana said: "This is the first meeting this year for residents in the north of the city and I'd urge as many people as possible to log on. Previous meetings for these areas have been very well received and I hope that continues.
"It's a great way for people to speak to their local officers, ask questions and raise issues and concerns, as well as for us to find out what matters most to people in our neighbourhoods."
Future meetings take place on:
Weds Feb 29 - from 1pm until 2.30pm - Newcastle West (Fenham and Scotswood, Benwell and Elswick)
Thurs March 29 - from 7.30pm until 9pm - Newcastle North (Outer West, Gosforth and Great Park, Blakelaw, Kenton and Fawdon)
