Men charged after metal stolen

Two men have been charged following a burglary in South Tyneside in which metal was stolen.

The two men were arrested after a Community Support Officer on routine patrol heard a disturbance coming from an upstairs flat in Laygate, South Shields.

A quantity of copper piping was stolen during the incident.

David McDougall, 29, of Laygate, South Shields and Frazer Rendall, 41, of Bedford Avenue, South Shields, have been charged with burglary.

Both will appear before South Tyneside Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, February 23.
