Serious collision on Redheugh Bridge

At 6pm on Tuesday, February 14, a road traffic collision occurred on the northbound carriageway of the Redheugh Bridge in Gateshead.

This involved a dark BMW 320 which collided with a 25-year-old male pedestrian. He was taken to Newcastle's RVI to be treated for life-threatening injuries.

The road was closed for three hours to allow for police investigation, vehicle recovery and road clearance.
