Burglaries in north Northumberland

Police are appealing for information after two burglaries in north Northumberland.

Between 6pm and 11:45pm on Monday, February 20, burglars broke into a house in Victoria Road, Wooler.

They searched the house but left empty handed.

Between 11am and 8pm, the same day, burglars also broke into house near Thornton, Cornhill.

They got inside the house through an upstairs window and searched the house. They stole jewellery worth around £5,000.

Items taken includes a number of gold rings, a necklace, bracelet and a number of pairs of earrings.

Officers are carrying out enquiries into the burglaries and are appealing for those living in rural communities to report any suspicious behaviour to police.

Homeowners are also advised to lock their doors and windows when leaving the house.
