Pendant returned to elderly woman

A pendant stolen from an elderly woman in a Gateshead burglary has been returned.

Someone returned the item to the doorstep of the woman's house sometime between 4pm on Sunday, February 19, and 9am on Monday, February 20. The gold chain is still outstanding.

A/Detective Inspector Craig Metcalfe of Gateshead Area Command, said: "Whoever has done this may well know who is responsible for the burglary and we'd appeal to them or anyone else who knows about this incident to get in touch.

"We know from the victim's account that the offenders didn't appear to intend to cause her harm, so we're appealing to them to hand themselves into police before we knock on their doors."

The burglary happened at a house on Armstrong Street in Bensham on Saturday, February 18, at just before 9pm.
