A quantity of suspected stolen copper has been seized and police are looking for the public's help in returning it to its rightful owner.

The copper piping and cable was seized from a vehicle which was stopped on Albert Road, Jarrow, in January.

The occupants of the vehicle, two men aged 42 and 36, were arrested on suspicion of theft and bailed pending further enquiries.

Anyone with information on the copper's rightful owner is asked to contact police on 101 extension 69191 or the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
