Man stabbed in Coxlodge

At 6.20am this morning police received a report a man had been stabbed at an address in Newcastle.

Officers attended an address in Kenton Road in Coxlodge where a 42-year-old  man was found to have suffered injuries believed to have been caused by a knife.

A knife has been recovered from the scene.

The man was taken to hospital where his condition is stable.

A 28-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of causing wounding with intent to commit GBH and is currently in police custody.

Detective Inspector Steve Wouldhave said: "This incident was between people who are known to each other and was contained to the inside the property. We will maintain a visible police presence in the area to reassure residents and answer any concerns they may have."
